Ft. Red

Happy Valentines Day! In honor of the “Day of Love” we decided to dedicate this post on different ways to highlight your wardrobe with red accents. We are also proud to introduce our friend Maggie who helped model for this post. While searching through our closets, we  do not incorporate red much in our clothing options. This was a nice challenge for us to experiment with the different shades of red. We hope you enjoy!

“To be honest, I had no idea what to wear for this particular post until the day of. I had purchased earlier in the week a maroon velvet baseball cap from Clothes Mentor, so I wanted to put an outfit together that focused on the hat. While looking what I had in my closet and wanted to push outside the bounds of my usual Boho attire, I decided on an Umgee plaid button down that I bought this season and my black LC Lauren Conrad pleather skirt. I accessorized by wearing my Rampage booties and Rue21 choker. At first the outfit was bold and not exactly my everyday style. But I continued to like the odd pairings and felt that it made statements in so many ways. Since plaid button downs are hot this season, I wanted to share a different way of wearing Red and Plaid that still mixed well with my velvet hat.” – M

For Maggie’s look, we wanted an everyday style that was versatile to all body types. We paired light denim jeans (Old Navy) with a maroon (Forever 21) “Mickey Mouse” top. To add a more sporty look, she wore he white Converse and Cotton On baseball hat. (Currently sold in stores for $3!) Not only is this look comfortable, it is also seasonal while being affordable.

“For my look, I wanted to try something different by mixing patterns. Both the dress and flannel had the red tones I was looking for. In pairing them together I found it took the outfit an extra mile by giving the dress a shape. My striped dress I got from Cotton On for $10. I paired it with this Free People plaid button to tie. Lastly, to keep the outfit casual I added my white Nike Tanjung that I got for $75. It is comfortable and versatile for any season!” – B

We hope you enjoyed this post! Be sure to keep an eye out for March, we have something special and different planned for you.
